Urban decay

On 17th April (not 18th – sheepish grin) we went to some abandoned ruins that seem to be the hangout for skateboarders. It is a nice backdrop. Hen3, Graham, Natalie, Dani and Maryna were there, trying out different things. The pics below are the result. I Love the contrast between the “urban decay” and beauty. Judge for yourself. And don’t be a hit and run perpetrator. If you do pop around, please leave a comment.

Natalie

Natalie is our resident Goth. She loves the darker side of photography, and often poses in her own images, as with the ones below. She also does her own make-up. Natalie has loads of talent, and is always busy creating and editing images.

Melindi

Melindi is the youngest member of the club. She loves taking pictures, but also has to double as our model most of the time. It seems she even models for her own pics from time to time. She has a great attitude, especially when other members use her as a model. Some of the pics were taken my Melindi at the Nyaru game lodge, one is a self-portrait, and in the other two she was playing model again.

Maryna

Maryna loves bikes. When the Buffalo rally came to town, we thought that we’d get many bike pics from her. However, she was so overawed by the bikes that she couldn’t stop staring, and thus forgot to take loads of pictures ;). It happens to all of us.

Mr P

Mr P started the photo club, to enable learners to explore the world of photography and digital imaging. The aim is to help learners explore their creativity. Mr P himself loves editing images, and creates images with a distinct fantasy feel.

The following images are of Dani. She likes the Twilight book, and the idea was to create some images with a dark undertone to fit in with the topic of the book.

This image is of Melindi. I loved the naughty smile, and it conjured up the image of being bout naughty and innocent. With that in mind I changed the background to reflect these two sides of her personality.

Another Melindi picture. I love fantasy books. And in most there is some wizards, and this image of Melindi lent itself to the creation of a young wizard. The clothes, skull, background and feathers have all been edited in.
This image was created with the global destruction of our natural resources in mind. The quote is from a song of Nino de Angelo and translated means, “If we can’t feel that the earth is crying like no other planet, then we have lived in vain”. The girl in the picture is again Melindi, and the images of the earth and moon were downloaded from the NASA website.

Hen3

Hen3 still has to find a style that he loves. He likes experimenting and is a rapid learner. He tends to prefer abstract and nature photos. The first two images were taken at the annual Buffalo rally in Mosselbay. And the other three at Nyaru game lodge, and at random locations

Dani

Dani loves taking pictures of people, and live subjects. She also models from time to time, as you will see from pictures later on. The images of the musical instruments were taken at a music shop (RD Percussion). The cheetah pic was taken at the Nyaru game lodge. And the Other two pics were a project on perfume (with Melindie posing) and a selfportrait.

Natalie - Ghost Train

We were poking around at an old railway yard, where old steam trains are refurbished. It’s a great setting for abstract pictures. Natalie loves to play with light, as one can see from these images.

These were the first images by Natalie.
